The proposed excavation and refurbishment of the existing basement created new habitable space, which, when combined with the existing floor above, creates a two-storey duplex apartment to this beautiful red brick Victorian building in Hove. The scheme creates a 2,000 sqft two-storey dwelling, with four bedrooms and a generous light-filled living space overlooking the garden.

The quality of space is further enhanced through the introduction of carefully considered lightwells.

The interior design balances classic and contemporary detailing. The character of the Victorian building is retained at ground floor level and a complementary modern approach is adopted in the new basement.
